Principal's Message

Sedric Covington began his career as a teacher in the Marion County School District. He quickly learned the importance of fostering relationships with students and families and the positive outcomes relationships have on student success.

Since then, he has taught in the Jackson Public School District, the Hinds County School DIstrict, and the Pascagoula Gautier School District. He has served as a teacher, a school counselor, and an assistant principal. In 2014, he became a National Board Certified Teacher and, in 2017, was named the Teacher of the Year for Terry High School.

As one of the assistant principals at Pascagoula High School, he was instrumental in the school's exit out of school improvement (TSI) and the school's "A" rating by the Mississippi Department of Education.
He earned an associate's degree from Copiah Lincoln Community College, a bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, a master's degree from William Carey University, and a specialist's degree from Mississippi College.

He is married with two children. He is excited to take on his new role as Principal of Gautier Middle School. He vows to create an environment where every student, every staffulty member, every parent, and every stakeholder feel seen, valued, and heard.
